In today’s society, we celebrate many different groups of people, events… but the family does not seem to be recognized as an important part of our lives that needs to be celebrated. In 2016, with Bishop Longin’s blessing, sisters’ approval, and Fr. Radovan Jakovljevic’s spiritual guidance the very first Djurdjevak Fest was organized to celebrate the importance of Orthodox families. It was a success from the beginning: families had the opportunity to experience real life in the Monastery, felt an amazing peace, and immersed in beautiful nature. Children enjoyed arts and crafts, sports games, and discussions with the priest.
Djurdjevak Fest attracts families from Indiana, Chicago metropolitan area, and Wisconsin every year one week after Easter (although the 2019 date changed due to Djurdjevdan to May 12).
Please come and join us in celebrating the most precious Orthodox families.
